Part 1
I think this image was the most successful because it stands out from the other photos as having multiple places that grab the viewers attention. I wanted to capture the cascades in the stream as well as the building. Finding the best angle to photograph these pictures was the hardest part of the project. For future photos, I plan on taking multiple photos from various angles and perspectives, then choose the one that looks most aesthetic.
Part 2
My comment on Alexander Zissman's blog:
Alexander, this is such a cool photo! I really like colors of the flower, especially how the yellow makes it almost look like it is glowing from the inside. I like how you captured the image not directly from a head-on perspective, but slightly to the side so that the viewer can see the texture and folds of the petals. The exposure was spot-on and the colors work very nicely together. It's hard to critiques such a good photo, but one thing I would play with is how zoomed in the flower is, even to the point of focusing on just a part of the flower to really emphasize some of the finer details. Overall, I feel like this photo really captures the full beauty of nature itself.
Hey Nathan, I love the low apature that you used in your photo. I totally agree that there are so many things that draw my eye in your photo; I think you have done a great job capturing the complexity of nature.
Hey Nathan! I think you chose a great photo to display. I really like how as you move from the left to the right, the photo seems to go from still to moving. Along the left you have the house and its reflection in the water and you move to the right where you have water in motion along rocks, which I think compliments to photo very well. Additionally, this photo was chosen for rule of thirds and it almost feels like there could be two focuses, the house and the dam made of rocks, both of which follow the rule of thirds, which makes the image feel more aesthetic and interesting than it would either a more still feeling…
Hi Nathan, great photo! I love the way you captured this nature shot. Your image really gives me the illusion that I was there while you took this photo. I can hear the water flowing, hitting the rocks, and I can feel the overcast weather and cold wind. I can also feel the peacefulness that this setting evokes. I like how you utilized this specific angle to include the reflection of the building in the water and the many layers of this viewpoint with the foreground and the background. One suggestion I have would be to brighten the trees in the background or increase the contrast to bring out their definition because their grayness makes the trees blend together.
